“Designer Confidential” is a series at CTFashionMag.com where we introduce the creative minds in fashion.
Name: Anetra Brooks of Plainville, Conn.
Brand: Anetra Designs & Alterations LLC
How would you describe your style aesthetic?
Chic, elegantly and stylishly fashionable.
Chic… describes exactly what I like to portray everyday in my own style and the style for my clients.
What inspired you to be a designer?
I wanted to offer my clients unique and different styles that make them feel fashionable and stylish with a little bit of elegance.
I wanted to include my clients in the design process. I noticed that most people have some type of idea that would make their outfit unique to them and I offer my clients the opportunity to add their input. It makes the design process that much more exciting when the garment is finished and it’s what they have envisioned. I also like that they trust me enough that if their idea doesn’t work they allow me to make changes as needed.
Who is your fashion icon and why?
My fashion icon is Michelle Obama. Her style is a representation on style, beauty, and eleganance. She’s fashionable yet stylish and she doesn’t have to show the goods to be recognized and admired.
What celebrity—living or dead—or fictional character would you like to dress and what would you make for them?
I would like to dress angela Bassett. I would make her a chiffon flow-y dress to bring out her strong beauty.
I would also like to dress Michelle Obama. I would make her a mermaid style runway dress.
