Why do you like modeling?
School has always come first in my life – I went to Harvard, and right now I’m at Yale for graduate school. But my second love has always been performance, whether that’s through theater, public speaking, or modeling. Modeling has taught me that there are so many types of beauty in the world, and it’s given me confidence both on and off the runway!
Your fashion icons and why?
It would have to be Natalie Portman. Her look is somehow clean-cut and wholesome, while still being effortlessly sexy. I also love how she’s done so much in the media world, including being an actor, director, and producer.
Your favorite designer and why?
Oscar de la Renta. Throughout his lifetime, he was always pushing the edges beyond what was traditionally acceptable with new cuts and colors – I saw some of his pieces at a fashion exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC and was absolutely blown away!
Describe your wardrobe choices when you’re not modeling?
I worked in theatrical costuming before entering the modeling world, and I love period pieces and fun “theatrical” looks. Really, if you open my wardrobe you’ll find everything from classic formal dresses to tiaras, flapper dresses, and combat boots. You only live once, right? So you might as well have a fun wardrobe!
What’s your guilty pleasure?
I’m addicted to traveling, and the most used thing in my closet is my carry-on suitcase. Whether it’s day trips to New York City, doing yoga retreats in India, or kayaking in Puerto Rico, I always like to be on the go. My next big adventure is that I’ll be hiking Mount Kilimanjaro in January 2017, and I couldn’t be more excited!
The one thing you can never leave home without?
A book. I go into my own world whenever I crack open a book – I’m a total nerd and I have no shame about it. If I have even five minutes between classes or meetings, I just HAVE to know what happens next!
Favorite music?
A mix of Top 40, Bollywood, and Spanish pop. I’m also a huge fan of Broadway show tunes, but that comes from years of theater.
Favorite food?
Carvel ice cream cake. If I had to eat just one food for the rest of my life, that would be it.
