There was a lot of Jovani style and a lot of “Dazzle” on Jan. 21 in Oxford, Conn.
Dazzle Boutique, owned by Laurye Natale, held its first ever “Dazzle Girl” contest as a way to showcase local models as well as the latest designs by Jovani, which is known for prom, pageant, and formal gowns.
Ten finalists wore a variety of Jovani designs and walked before judges from Jovani at the event, which also served as a Jovani trunk show where guests could buy the gowns they liked on the runway.
Alyssa Anderson of Wolcott was selected as the first-ever Dazzle Girl. Among the prizes she received was an opportunity to model for Jovani at the brand’s New York City showroom.
Kaitlyn Dupont was selected as first runner-up.
“I am so excited and thrilled (to win),” said Anderson after her selection by the representatives from Jovani. “I’ve been shopping with Laurye for as long as I’ve been competing in the Miss division in the Miss America Organization. To be her official Dazzle Girl is an opportunity of a lifetime. I’m super excited.”
As for getting a chance to model for Jovani in New York, Anderson said, “I am thrilled. Jovani is truly a brand I’ve been following. Their designs are incredible. I’m looking forward to working with them.”
