Yes, brides are looking at dresses. But with those dresses, they will need hair and makeup looks to add an exclamation to their big day.
Students at the International Institute of Cosmetology on Whiting Street in Plainville, Conn. (www.studyhair.com) demonstrated and spoke about hair and makeup trends they are seeing for 2018. Model Samantha Anderson was used to illustrate their thoughts.
For hair, hair stylist student Natalie Wilcox said she saw a trend away from curly and dramatic looks and a move toward “sleek and more elegant.”
The trend, said Lindsay Dumond, calls for more buns and adding hair pieces to complete the look.
“When I think of brides,” said makeup artist Shamellia Rivera-Chinea, “I think of their natural beauty.”
“I wanted to do something that didn’t take away from the natural face and some of the natural features (model Samantha Anderson of Wolcott) has,” said Rivera-Chinea. “I wanted to use something that was dewy but brought out some of the rosiness in her cheeks and complemented her eyes. I wanted to do something was soft and not too dull. So here we have a little bit more of that soft and dewy look.”
