A young woman will get to “Dazzle” the world this Sunday as several contestants will gather in Oxford, Conn. for a fashion model competition that will benefit the fight against breast cancer.
Dazzle Boutique, 300 Oxford Rd., in Oxford (http://www.dazzleboutiques.com/ )is hosting its second ever Dazzle Girl competition. And the winner will get a chance to represent renowned gown brand, Jovani.
Laurye Natale, owner of the store, explained, “During the months of August and September, girls came to Dazzle Boutique and auditioned to be selected as a finalist to be the next Dazzle Girl. We selected 15 finalists who moved on to the finals.”
(One contestant has since dropped out.)
Natale said, “The finalists who were selected range in ages from 13 to 29—Jovani’s requirements. Some of them are pageant girls; some have had some modeling experience; some have never done anything like this before and thought it would be an exciting adventure.”
Natale said each contestant will be modeling two outfits, and will be selected by representatives from Jovani.
In addition to getting a chance to model for Jovani in its New York City showroom, said Natale, “the winner… will also receive a $500 gift certificate from Dazzle Boutique and will be able to model for Dazzle Boutique in their social media promotions.”
The remaining 13 finalists will each win a $100 gift certificate from Dazzle Boutique, said Natale.
Besides the opportunity to model for Jovani, the contestants also will be able to help Seymour Pink – a local non-profit organization – “supporting local families impacted by breast cancer,” said Natale.
To that end, Dazzle’s owner said, “All of the models will be wearing pink outfits from Dazzle Boutique. We are also encouraging everyone in the audience to wear pink to show their support.
Additionally, Natale said, “We will be holding an auction for donated items at the show as well, and 100 percent of the proceeds will be donated to Seymour Pink.”
Natale said she thought combining the Dazzle Girl Competition and a benefit for fighting breast cancer “would be a great way to combine the fun and excitement of the competition with a purpose.”
To that end, Natale said she will hold the competition in October—Breast Cancer Awareness Month—from this year forward.
The finals for the Dazzle Girl Competition will be held on Sunday, Oct. 28 at 11 a.m. at Dazzle Boutique at 300 Oxford Rd. in Oxford, Conn.
If anyone is interested in coming to see the show, there is no admission fee, but reservations are required. They should email Laurye@DazzleBoutiques.com to confirm their seat. Seating is limited.
