Urban Dictionary (http://www.urbandictionary.com) says that to “stay woke” is “to keep informed of the [crap] going on around you in times of turmoil and conflict.
When a clothing line calls itself Woke, you know the point of view it’s going to present.
And as the models walked down the runway at Society Fashion Week at New York Fashion Week, their urban, ready to wear clothes designed for diverse body-types were accessorized with messages and symbols painted in makeup that reflected the desire for peace, love, and understanding in these tumultuous times.
This was a low-key political rally adorned in style.
