Miss Greater Rockville Sylvana Gonzalez took over Aria Wedding and Banquet Facility in Prospect, Conn. on May 8 to help people recognize and survive the pains of domestic abuse.
The fundraising gala event, which attracted 90 guests, supported the organization Love Better. Along the way, guests received tips and stories about the signs and dangers of partner abuse. Each guest received a card with the signs as a constant reminder of what to be wary of.
The event, which attracted Miss Connecticut BridgetOei, Miss Maine Olivia Mayo, and Miss Massachusetts Gabriela Taveres.
The benefit also helped support Children’s Miracle Network, which is represented locally by Connecticut Children’s in Hartford.
