COVID-19 played a role in the inspiration for Adrian Alicea’s latest collection.
Aliciea participated in Small Boutique Fashion Week’s celebration of style during New York Fashion Week on Sept. 12.
Rather than a runway show this season, due to the pandemic, SBFW offered a presentation where designers dressed models, who maintained social distancing on a platform. And the crowd invited to view the fashions was kept deliberately small.
In remarks following the presentation, Alicea, who describes himself as an artist, said the collection was called “Metaphysical Avatar.”
“My inspiration came from the journey, all the way from the beginning to COVIDE to being at the beach, travels and the diary of my memories,” said the New York City-based designer.
