I recently had an opportunity to be wowed by the talent honored at the Branson Terry Awards.
The special limited event at Branson’s Famous Theater was born from an idea by music enthusiast and connoisseur, Terry Beane.
The Branson Terry Awards are dedicated to the hardworking singers, musicians, dancers, magicians, comedians, and other professionals who work year round to entertain the millions of tourists who visit the “Live Music Capital of the World” annually.
The pre-show dinner soirée was held at La Hacienda, featuring a delicious Mexican buffet, endless champagne, and photo ops with some of the brightest stars in Branson.
Held on Sept. 26, entertainers from every major show in town wore their most formal attire and walked the red carpet for dozens of media outlets as they made their way into the theater, eagerly anticipating the results of the many “Best of the Best” categories which would be presented throughout the duration of the evening.
Co emceed by acclaimed singer/songwriter Barbara Fairchild (Best known for the chart-topping, “Teddy Bear Song”), the star-studded evening also featured an array of presenters, including local Branson performers, music executives and radio personalities.
The opening number, “I Wanna Rock” was performed by the stars of “Anthems of Rock” from Kings Castle Theatre, and many of Branson’s most acclaimed and recognizable performers brought exclusive performances to the stage, including Melody Hart and Family, Doug Gabriel, the Hughes Brothers and New South Gospel, just to name a few.
I was honored to present the “Tribute Show of the Year Category”, which was awarded to Fleetwood Mac tribute group “Dreams.” Other big winners of the evening included Female Vocalist of the Year, Megan Mabe, Band of the Year, Nashville Roadhouse Live, Show of the Year, Grand Jubilee, and Entertainer of the Year, Dean Z.
Special thanks to Rick McKewn (who can be seen performing at the Branson Star Theater, The Little Opry, and many top venues throughout Branson) for his tremendous contributions to the show and for the presenter invitation!
