The Miss America evening gown category in the competition has been relegated to the history books.
But the evening gowns live on, in a way, during the red carpet/ on-stage question portion of the annual event, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary.
This is what the contestants wore on the first night of preliminary competition on Sunday for Miss America, which was held at the Mohegan Sun Earth Expo and Convention Center in Uncasville.
The finals for the competition will be held Thursday at 8 p.m. in the Mohegan Suna Arena. It will be streamed live on Peacock.
