Although press materials for Chloe Pearl’s debut collection invoked her 1990s influences, the spirit of the collection of lingerie shown at Runway7 on Feb. 11 during New York Fashion Week seemed to bend more toward a 21st century Hollywood version of a certain French queen.
With the towering 18th century wigs and sherbert colored fabrics, the sexy collection strutted out on the Sony Hall runway stoked memories of Sofia Coppola’s 2006 film “Marie Antoinette” starring a youthful Kirsten Dunst rather than any dusty old museum images of King Louis’s babe.
To further invoke the Marie Antoinette references the 17-year-old influencer accompanied her new line with a French pop soundtrack.
And, oh yeah, she dubbed the 21-piece line the “Marie Antoinette Collection.”
Press materials provided post-show said Chloe Pearl’s NYFW collection “feature(d) elevated lingerie styles that look like special occasion pieces yet have the ease of everyday lingerie. Fabrics used in the collection include silk charmeuse, silk cotton, mesh, and lace. The signature ‘Chloe Cami’ two-piece underwear set in silk charmeuse comes in seven colors: pink, blue, lavender, mint, gold, rose gold and yellow. The ‘Juliet’ bra and underwear set comes in white lace and the ‘Violet’ cami and shorts set (comes) in lavender mesh with baby blue lace.”
According to the press release, “Chloe Pearl Lingerie is a reflection of its designer’s personal mantra: ‘Be the love of your life.’”
