In the halls of the Javits Center in New York City, alter-egos and creativity rubbed elbows with the general public at the annual New York Comic Con on Oct. 8.
At the event, cosplay is not only a tradition, but for many in attendance it’s a mandate. There were superheroes, supervillains, characters from comic books, fantasy novels, the movies and television. The costumes ranged from the run-of-the-mill store–bought inventory to, essentially, works of art.
Here are some of the images from the event, which also featured a variety of pop-culture leaning panels, a multitude of vendors selling everything from cosplay props to comic books to original art to t-shirts and celebrities of every ilk signing autographs and posing for photos (for a fee).
