A woman from Milford and a teen from Meriden took the top slots at the Miss Connecticut Scholarship Organization’s competition on Sunday afternoon, June 19 at the Mohegan Sun Cabaret Theater in Uncasville.

Gina Carloto was selected as the new Miss Connecticut. Emily Anastasio was tapped as the new Miss Connecticut’s Teen.

Carloto was competing as Miss Fairfield County. Anastasio was competing as Miss Bristol’s Teen.

The first runner-up for Miss Connecticut was Watertown’s Monica Fenwick, who was competing as Miss Wolcott. The first runner-up for Miss Connecticut’s Teen was Bristol’s Camryn Patton, who was competing as Miss Forestville’s Teen.

Both Carloto and Anastasio performed dance routines for the judges for the talent competition.

Contestants also took part in evening gown, health and fitness (athletic wear) and on-stage question competitions. All the contestants had a private interview with the judges as well.

As part of the title requirements, contestants also must choose a community service initiation (CSI), which is a platform about an issue of interest to them. Carloto’s CSI is the Grace Collective, which she described as “Impacting local communities through diverse health and educational initiatives.” Anastasio chose Alzheimer’s Awareness as her initiative.
