Fashion will flower this Sunday, July 9, in Hartford.
Chasity Aniece Productions, which has staged fashion shows in Bridgeport, Norwalk and Waterbury, will plant some seeds of style with its latest event, The Floral Xscape.
“The Floral Xscape (theme) portrays the beauty and the complexity of Mother Nature through expression, movement, design, and art,” explained the organizer of the event, Chasity Kennedy.
“It’s also personal to me because I’m telling the story of my healing journey and how I persevered through hard times,” said Kennedy.
Kennedy said the show is more than just a simple runway show, but a production with fashion.
“We start off with the night scene, which represents the stage of being in a dark place,” explained Kennedy. “The designers in this scene have been asked to draw inspiration from the edgy, more dangerous side of nature, like the moon — or even poisonous plants.”
Then, said Kennedy (who is a fashion model as well as an entrepreneur), “After the night scene, we’d transition into the day, which represents the stage of being healed. The designers in this scene have been asked to draw inspiration from the delicate side of nature, like flowers or the sun.”
For the show, Kennedy said 15 designers have stepped forward to create collections based on the theme of The Floral Xscape. Kultuur, Karlene Lindsay Designs and Hadiya Kim Studios will be among the designers showing on Sunday, said Kennedy.
After shows in the western side of the state, Kennedy said the move to the capital city for this weekend’s event was driven by her sense “it was time for me to reach new grounds and bring (Chasity Aniece) Productions to Hartford.”
In addition to the runway show, Kennedy said there will be dance numbers, performances, and spoken word recitations during Sunday’s activities. There also will be a pop-up shop with a variety of “unique” businesses, said the event’s organizer.
The Floral Xscape will be held Sunday, July 9 at the Bond Ballroom, 338 Asylum Street Hartford. Doors open at 3 p.m. for guests to browse the vendors. The runway show will start at 5 p.m. The event is described as semi-formal and guests are asked to wear their most fashionable, floral outfit.
