The energy of the American West and the joys of freedom will be celebrated on the fashion catwalk this Sunday, July 21 in Bridgeport.
Chasity Aniece Productions, which mounts fashion shows featuring local and area fashion designers throughout the year, will be presenting “The Untamed Fashion Show.”
“The production is titled ‘Untamed’ not only because it is a catchy name that perfectly encapsulates the spirit of Western culture and nature, but also because it signifies a sense of freedom,” explained Chasity Kennedy, the owner of Chasity Aniece Productions. “It is a celebration of the freedom to create, to be oneself, and to express wildness without restraint. The name serves as a metaphor for the unbridled creativity and individuality that the show aims to promote.”
At a recent promotional photo and video shoot for the show, the models onsite offered a definite cowboy flare in their approach to styling.
Kennedy said, “‘Untamed’ draws heavily from the rich traditions of Western films, music, and wildlife. These elements serve as major sources of inspiration, infusing the production with the rugged charm and adventurous spirit of the American West. This influence is evident in the aesthetics and thematic elements of the show, creating a vivid homage to the cowboy and Western culture.”
To acknowledge the theme, Kennedy said, “Designers have been encouraged to explore a wide range of themes, from cowboy couture to country streetwear. The goal is to challenge conventional Western norms and examine their influence on contemporary fashion trends. By blending traditional and modern elements, the show aims to present a fresh and innovative take on Western-inspired fashion.”
As for the fashion designers showcased the runway, Kennedy said, “The show will feature creations from our in-house designer, Kultuur, as well as contributions from 13 local and out-of-state designers. This diverse lineup promises a rich variety of styles and perspectives, showcasing the breadth of talent within the fashion community.”
To bring these clothes to life on the runway, Kennedy also recruited models from near and far.
“We conducted multiple casting calls in Connecticut, attracting models from various locations. The auditions drew a diverse pool of talent, reflecting the inclusive and far-reaching nature of the production,” the runway show organizer explained.
The models also provide a diversity of body shapes, ages and genders.
“(This diversity) was crucial for me,” said Kenned. “This approach not only ensures inclusivity but also fosters a safe space where everyone can showcase their talents and connect with their inner confidence. I aim to educate and inspire aspiring models of all backgrounds, encouraging them to embrace their uniqueness.”
For those in attendance at “Untamed,” Kennedy said, “I hope to inspire people to embrace the spirit of being untamed—being unapologetically themselves in every aspect of their lives. By showcasing a blend of creativity, individuality, and boldness, the show aims to encourage people to break free from conventions and express their true selves with confidence.”
For the sake of inspiration, Kennedy said, “Untamed” also will feature “a variety of artistic expressions, including dance and live music. However, the full range of surprises and performances will be revealed at the event, inviting attendees to experience the complete array of creative showcases we have planned.”
