Working to make dreams come true

Serena King has wanted to be an actor since the Milwaukee native saw a Disney show at age 9.

Serena’s mother, seeing her daughter’s interest, took Serena to an acting and modeling school.

“That is where I did my first practice runway show to audition to get into the school. I was accepted into the school because of how great I walked down that runway, however after all the portfolio fees and the schooling itself my mother could not afford (to let me continue), being a single mother of three,” said Serena.

“Fast forward to 2019 I was asked to be brand ambassador for a jewelry company as well as a clothing brand company. I never really took professional pictures before let alone be a model for anyone, this was my first gig and I absolutely fell in love with it,” said Serena. “Since 2019 I have been freelancing as far modeling and taking pictures for brands. Now I am a professional.”

Serena said, “I am also in love with fashion so much I decided to start my own brand as well, which will launch this coming fall.”

Serena added, “This year, and years from now, I will focus on making my dreams come true and help others do the same despite how they look, where they come from or what they have experienced in life. I am here to change the narrative and knock over barriers.

Serena is a recent participant in Victoria Henley’s Magnifique Showcase.
