The American Mural Project invites designers of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities to register for “Recycled Runway 2025,” a sustainable fashion runway show featuring wearable art made from at least 75% recyclable and repurposed materials.
The event will be held on Saturday, May 10 at 8 p.m. in AMP’s mural gallery, 90 Whiting Street, Winsted.
“Recycled Runway is one of our most anticipated events,” said Amy Wynn, executive director of AMP in a press release. “It challenges people of all ages to think creatively about waste and sustainability while showcasing their talents in a highly visible and supportive environment. The runway is truly a celebration of ingenuity, collaboration, and environmental awareness.”
Now in its third year, Recycled Runway showcases the ingenuity of fashion designers who transform everyday discarded items into imaginative, one-of-a-kind outfits. The live, emceed runway event will celebrate both creativity and the importance of sustainable practices in fashion design.
AMP encourages individual designers and design teams—including students, professional designers, and community groups—to join this eco-friendly initiative. Participants will have the opportunity to present their designs in a runway show while contributing to a broader conversation about sustainability in fashion. The event will also raise funds for the nonprofit American Mural Project.
Registration is now open. Submission deadline is Feb. 28.
There are a limited number of design slots available, so participants should register early and start work on their designs. All designs must consist of at least 75% reclaimed materials, with participants encouraged to explore innovative options such as fabric scraps, packaging materials, discarded items, remnants from businesses, and other recyclable items. Selected designs will also be featured in a month-long exhibit at AMP following the runway show, offering participants additional visibility.
