Black History Month was celebrated in style, accompanied by inspirational messages, at New Britain Public Library on Saturday, Feb. 15.

New Britain Alderman Candyce Scott organized the event, lending her own fashion line, Gorgy By Candy, to serve as the visual focus of the event. She also used the event as an opportunity to share inspirational quotes from Black leaders, read by her models, and by inviting assorted organizations that benefit the Black population of Connecticut to share information about their services. Additionally, some Black-owned businesses had the opportunity to present their wares inside the Periodicals Room of the library.
